Biography

Since 16th March 2009 I was transferred from Tanzania Fisheries Research Institute (where I worked as Principal Research Officer Grade 1 and Director of the Dar es Salaam Fisheries Research Centre since 2004) to the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries Development to become Director of Aquaculture Development Division. My role is to oversee and supervise, on behalf of the Permanent Secretary, country-wide performance of both Mariculture Section and Inland Aquaculture Section. Essentially my core responsibility is to promote fin fish farming such as tilapia, catfish, trout, milkfish and culture of other aquatic organisms such as prawns, oysters (for food and pearls), seaweed, and mud crabs. Technology sharing, through popular vehicles, from experts and R&D institutions to farmers the majority of whom live in rural areas is the main driver to achievements in core activities.
