Freshwater Ecosystems

Lakes, ponds, streams, and any other water bodies other than sea are referred under the freshwater. The freshwater helps a wide range of plant and animal ecosystems whose composition is maintained by the availability of food, oxygen, temperature and sunlight. Freshwater environments are smaller ones compared to the oceanic bodies, but they serve as the important centers of biodiversity. These are not found in the areas like deserts.
